A pimple that gets inflamed or doesn’t heal fully can cause a scar. When an acne scar emerges, this means that one of the layers of healthy skin has been damaged. To correct that damage, new tissue fibers form to stop the bleeding and to heal the wound, that’s what creates the scar. There are several types of acne scars including keloids, which are shiny and firm masses of tissue, and ice pick scars, which are deep, jagged pits. The type and severity of the scar and the treatment you decide to pursue will have a lot to do with how successful you are in permanently removing these scars. The experts as Aesthetic Cosmetic Centre will guide you on the best possible treatment option for you, during your consultation.
Subcision treats rolling acne scars, which are dented due to scar tissue bands pulling downward on the skin. This procedure involves using a needle to break up the scar from underneath. Sometimes an injectable filler is also needed. Bruising following Subcision can last 1-2 weeks, but the procedure is well-tolerated with local infiltration of anesthetic. A benefit of subcision is the absence of any superficial skin injury, except for minute needle insertion points.
Blue Light Therapy
An FDA-approved procedure for moderate acne. Blue light therapy uses light in a specific wavelength (blue) to kill the bacteria (propionibacteria acnes) that causes acne.
Blue light therapy can be used on its own, but is often combined with an agent that makes the skin more receptive to the light treatment.
The procedure itself is simple; the client sits under the blue light for a few minutes. If a photosensitizing agent is used, it is applied prior to the blue light treatment. Several treatments are needed, usually spaced out over several weeks.
Side effects are mild swelling, redness, dryness, and temporary changes in skin color.
Blue light is often used after other treatments have been tried unsuccessfully. Many people find blue light improves acne, although not everyone sees results. Some studies have shown that nodulocystic acne may actually worsen after blue light treatments.
Blue light therapy has several benefits. It’s a painless treatment with relatively short therapy sessions. The light does not contain UV rays, so it’s not considered to be potentially cancer causing. Patients generally have two 15-minute sessions every week for four weeks. People have also found that inflammatory acne may respond well to the treatment. Acne blue light therapy is very gentle and surrounding tissues are not harmed, unlike other treatments previously employed.
Medically proven, safe, effective and affordable. If you are looking for a solution to treat your mild to moderate acne the Blue Acne Light is the clear choice.
It’s unclear exactly how long blue light treatments will help the skin remain clear, and it bears repeating that this is not a cure for acne. Some people experience significant improvement while others see minor, transient clearing. Generally, effective treatment in the best of circumstances results in a 50% reduction in acne. As a result, combined therapies are being experimented with.
